With poor or no cellular coverage in certain locations, Lake District National Parks sought a solution to enable credit card payments in remote car parks – without the high costs of installing power infrastructure.

With Hubit-installed solutions, we delivered a fully off-grid satellite communication system, powered by a 180W solar panel and LiFePo4 battery, ensuring continuous operation without reliance on traditional power sources. The Iridium Certus 100 satellite service, supported by a robust network of 66 satellites, enables seamless touch-and-pay transactions, providing customers with the same fast, reliable payment experience found in other UK car parks.

Our cloud platform provides real-time monitoring of data usage, device connectivity, and remote configuration, while also allowing data pooling across multiple sites for efficient management and cost control.

This resilient and scalable solution ensures uninterrupted service, helping Lake District National Parks enhance accessibility and convenience for visitors while maintaining a low total cost of ownership.

We provide monitoring solutions for water levels, pipe pressure and the status of manholes and drain covers. Our battery operated sensors, with a lifespan exceeding five years, communicate via LoRaWAN or NBIoT / LTE-M1.

These rugged, IP-rated sensors can be monitored on the underside of manholes or drain covers, reporting on water levels below while enduring harsh environmental conditions..
