Complex on-site device activation.

Connectivity management across growing estate.

Keys to Success

Preconfigured 4G router deployment.

Secure embedded eSIM to avoid misuse.

Barcode-based device activation process.

Results

Faster, consistent installation workflow.

Remote data monitoring and diagnostics.

Scalable connectivity management platform.

Daikin required a reliable way to connect newly installed heat pumps across a range of residential properties, including social housing where fixed-line broadband could not be assumed. Connectivity was essential to enable remote monitoring, diagnostics by engineers, and app-based control for residents. The installation process also needed to remain simple for field engineers working across multiple sites.

Hubit designed a connectivity solution using preconfigured 4G routers supplied with embedded multicarrier eSIMs. Each device arrives ready to activate, removing the need to manage physical SIM cards or configure routers on site. A barcode-based activation process allows installers to register the router by scanning the device at installation. Once activated, the router provides reliable internet connectivity for the heat pump and automatically connects to Hubit’s cloud platform for monitoring and management.

Hubit also developed a bespoke multi-tenanted web portal integrated with connectivity platforms through custom APIs. The portal provides Daikin teams and social housing partners with visibility of data usage across the installed device estate, with the ability to request additional data when required.

The pilot deployment across fewer than 100 units established a repeatable installation model. Engineers can activate connectivity quickly, heat pumps remain accessible for remote monitoring, and the platform provides a scalable foundation for wider rollout.
